We are Studio Mechanics.

This is What We Do.

Art Department

Responsible for the visual design of the world onscreen, spanning multiple disciplines, from built sets to decor to graphic design to props.

Costume Department

Responsible for the garments worn by performers on-screen, including: design, fabrication, procurement, rental, customization, duplication, and related aspects of costuming.

Construction Department

A multi-disciplinary team of construction specialists working in concert to assemble sets specifically engineered for the unique demands of filmmaking.

Craft Service Department

These workers provide hot and cold refreshments to the cast and crew, from call to wrap, both on stage and on location.

Electrical Department

Responsible for rigging and power distribution, mobile power supplies, set lighting, specialty lighting rigs, dimmer boards, digital multiplexing, and more.

Greens Department

Use living and artificial plants to create convincing onscreen environments, adjustable to camera.

Grip Department

A team of skilled technicians providing a diverse set of services, including: lighting adjustments, the construction of lighting and camera rigs, dolly & crane operation.

Medics

On standby to provide emergency medical assistance to the cast & crew.

Paint

These skilled craftspeople can transform nondescript set pieces into exotic materials using special painting techniques to simulate a wide variety of surfaces.

Plaster

These artisans add a layer of dimension to sets, from ancient castle walls and alien moonscapes, to ornamental finishes in period dramas.

Props

Responsible for any object an actor uses or touches onscreen, from a glass of milk to a laser sword. Props may be purchased, rented, or fabricated, depending on the need.

Set Decoration

These workers are responsible for creating environments for the characters of a film by placing furniture, artwork, appliances, and artifacts onto a set to make the fictional space feel genuinely inhabited.

Sound Department

This team captures all of the original dialogue spoken by the cast during each take.

Special Effects Department

This team is responsible for designing and executing real-life "practical" effects (like wind, rain, fire and explosions) to special mechanical rigs.

Set Teachers

Serve as child advocates for all minors on set and teach school-age minors.

Video Assist

Coordinates with the Camera department to provide a live video feed of the shot in progress to the Director and Director of Photography.

Our members design, build, paint, plant and furnish the many worlds you see onscreen. They bring characters to life through costumes and props, painting with light and shadow, wind and rain. They capture sound, provide safety, and they teach.
