YWC Networking Panel

2017-young-workers-networking-001

On Sunday April 2nd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm the Young Workers Committee is hosting a networking event at the union hall. The focus of this event is getting started in this business, techniques for securing your first few jobs, and the best ways to plan and develop your career. This is a great opportunity for young and new members to network and learn from experienced members who faced the same early challenges in their own careers. The Young Workers Committee would also like to encourage additional leads and seasoned members to attend as well to join in and spur on productive and informative discussions. All members in good standing are welcome to attend, though this event is geared towards our younger and/or newer members.

Full Schedule

1:00PM – 2:30PM: Moderated Q & A session with an 8-member panel made up of Department Heads and Best Boys from the Grip, Electric, Props, Set Dec, Crafty, Construction, Costumes and Scenic departments. Panelists will discuss their background and personal experiences relating to how they first got their start and how they’ve made it to where they are today. They will also field questions from attendees.

2:30PM – 4:00PM: Break-out round table discussions organized by department, allowing the opportunity to discuss the unique situations that each department head deals with when hiring crew, as well as their own experience in securing work.

A light lunch will be served during the round table discussions.

Please register for this event via the link sent to members via email.

You must be a member in good standing to attend.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all there!
