Atlanta’s Young Workers Provide Reception for IATSE Officer’s Institute
Last week Local 479’s Young Worker’s Committee collaborated with Local 600’s YWC to provide a reception for attendees of the IATSE Officer’s Institute, an intensive set of courses designed to educate IATSE local union officers and Business Agents on the finer points of running a local, understanding the bargaining process, and exploring best practices for building stronger, more active locals.
IATSE members from around the country and from Canada flew into Atlanta to attend the 1.0 and 2.0 (Advanced Secretary Treasurer 2.0) classes in the Westin Peachtree Plaza.
It was a beautiful week in Atlanta and we hope that our fellow brothers and sisters enjoyed the experience and learned a lot!
Young Worker’s Conference a Success

First Annual YWC Charity Kickball Tournament Announced
The IATSE Local 479 Young Workers Committee have announced their “kick-off” event: The 1st Annual YWC Charity Kickball Tournament! Every show is invited to form a team of 15 players and play against other shows in an all day event. If you are not on a show but still want to play in the tournament you can always register as a free agent and be assigned to a team. Teams can be comprised of any members of your show’s cast or crew – IATSE, DGA, PA’s, WHATEVER! All proceeds benefit The Global Village Project, a school for refugee girls located in Decatur, GA.
