Revised Area Standards Agreement Now Available
Hardcopies of the Area Standards Agreement (ASA) are now in the office and available to all members. Every member of the Local should have a copy of this document in their possession, as it documents the agreement between signatory employers and IATSE and includes details on wages, work days, work weeks, rest periods, production centers, distant hires, per diem, and many, many other details relevant to your employment under the ASA. Those of you working shows should speak to your stewards and field reps, as they will be distributing copies over the next several days and weeks.

Vacation Checks Are On The Way!
At the October 2015 general membership meeting our local voted in favor of the Vacation Fund Incentive and as a result, vacation checks have been calculated and are already on their way to qualifying members. To understand the details of how to qualify for this member incentive check your member email.

Open Enrollment 2016
Once again it is open enrollment period for Plan C Health Benefits. The mailing of statements has begun and all statements should be received by the end of the Thanksgiving Holiday. This is an opportunity to enroll if you are not currently enrolled (if eligible) or the opportunity to make needed changes for the best possible coverage for you or your family. Kickball Tournament A Fun Time For All
After an initial postponement due to a rain out, Local 479’s Young Workers Committee successfully launched this rollicking kickball tourney to benefit The Global Village Project School, raising $18,425 on behalf of the Atlanta-based charity, which helps refugee girls with interrupted schooling to gain access to the education necessary to pursue their dreams.

12 teams faced off at Piedmont Park, pitting the crews of shows like The Walking Dead, Finding Carter, Game of Silence, and The Originals against several grip departments, a team from (more…)

Tour of the New Local 479 Member Facility
Welcome to your new headquarters building! Here’s a quick photographic orientation tour of the new space.

Front Entrance – the front entrance to our new offices will provide convenient access to the administrative offices as well as to the new meeting hall. Improvements to this area are planned for later in the year, including paving and landscaping.

Local 479’s Historic Move to Larger Facility

The new IATSE Local 479 Atlanta Headquarters has moved to a larger building on the adjacent property.
On June 19th, 2015, IATSE Local 479’s unprecedented decade of growth was highlighted by a transition to a larger member-owned facility, directly adjacent to the offices the local has occupied for the past two years.
Younger members may be interested to learn that their local’s office has moved many times since it was first chartered on October 1, 1986. The local’s first real office space was located along Piedmont Avenue, just south of Cheshire Bridge Road.

On July 18th, 2015, Local 479 Director of Education Kevin Amick, conducted the largest new member orientation class to-date, with 93 participants. Kevin has asked us to thank Billy Deacon, Theresa Khouri, and AB Cooper for their participation in this well-attended event. A delicious lunch was prepared by Stephanie Beman. Local 479 wishes all of these members good luck in this VERY competitive business and hope that they will do their part to contribute to the next chapter in our state’s motion picture industry.
