New Construction Training Program
Director of Education Kevin Amick has been working with construction department Keys to develop a training program that brings new members up to speed on the common methods and practices of motion picture construction departments, so that these new members can hit the ground running. Our training workshop now contains a variety of equipment for our construction program. This equipment includes a table saw, a chop saw, a drum/belt sander, a band saw, a drill press, work tables and a variety of hand tools.

Local 479 Partnering With Georgia Film Academy In 2016
The Georgia Film Academy is a collaborative effort of the University System of Georgia and Technical College System of Georgia supporting workforce needs of the film and digital entertainment industries. The academy will certify workforce ready employees in needed areas, connect students and prospective employees with employers, and offer a unique capstone experience for top students that will provide them a path to employment in Georgia, and they will be partnering with IATSE Local 479 and its members to educate and train Georgia’s future workforce for the television and motion picture industry. Welcome to your new headquarters building! Here’s a quick photographic orientation tour of the new space.

Front Entrance – the front entrance to our new offices will provide convenient access to the administrative offices as well as to the new meeting hall. Improvements to this area are planned for later in the year, including paving and landscaping.
