Local 479 Members Compete for 2018 Emmys
In July The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 2018 Emmy Awards, to recognize excellence in the television industry. Four members of IATSE Local 479 were among those listed for consideration in this year’s Creative Arts Awards categories. Please join us in recognizing the achievement of these members for the honor of their nominations, and in wishing them good luck in the upcoming awards ceremony this Saturday night in Los Angeles.
The Projects
Atlanta (3 members)
Timothy D. O’Brien, Aimee Athnos, and Taylor Mosbey, have been nominated in the Creative Arts Awards category Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour or Less) for the popular FX Network episodic Atlanta, starring Donald Glover. This team was nominated for their work on the acclaimed gothic episode titled “Teddy Perkins”.
Stranger Things (1 member)
Michael P. Clark is part of the sound team nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour) for the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. As Production Sound Mixer, Michael worked on set to capture the dialogue for each episode. He and his talented team have been nominated for their work on the 8th episode, titled “Chapter Eight: The Mind Flayer”.
Awards Ceremonies
70th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards
The Creative Arts Awards Ceremony that these members will participate in will take place on Saturday, September 8th at 5:00pm PDT and will be broadcast a week later on Saturday, September 15th at 8:00pm ET/PT on FXX, the comedy-centric channel for the FX Network. Check your local listings and tune in to see your fellow members!
70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards
In addition to the creative arts nominations noted above, both series have been nominated best in their respective categories; Atlanta for Outstanding Comedy Series and Stranger Things for Outstanding Drama Series – a win for these shows is like a win for their crews. Tune in to this star-studded broadcast on Monday, September 17th at 8:00pm ET/PT on NBC.

Aimee Athnos
Aimee joined Local 479 in 2017 after working in a variety of markets including Louisiana, California, and New York. She joined the crew of Atlanta in its second season and recently completed Now We Here. This is Aimee’s first Emmy nomination.

Michael P. Clark, CAS
Michael joined Local 479 in August of 2009 and is a member of the Cinema Audio Society (CAS). His mixing credits include Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, Baby Driver (2nd Unit), Halt and Catch Fire, and The Vampire Diaries. This is Michael’s first Emmy nomination.
Taylor Mosbey
Taylor joined Local 479 in 2014 while pursuing a career as a graphic designer in episodic television. His resume includes Atlanta, Finding Carter, and Rectify. Atlanta is Taylor’s first major art direction credit and his first Emmy nomination.
Timothy D. O’Brien
Timothy has been a member of Local 479 since August of 2002, later joining Local 800 as an Art Director. His resume as Production Designer includes the projects Atlanta and Table 19. His art direction credits include Zombieland, Gangster Squad, Term Life, and Let’s Be Cops. This is Timmy’s first Emmy nomination.
