Hurricane Donation Drive

(UPDATED September 13) – IATSE Locals 479, 600, and 798, in association with the Teamsters Local 728, have joined in a collaborative effort with Georgia’s production companies, studios, and other industry professionals to contribute to the relief efforts for the victims of the recent hurricanes.  We have partnered with an organization called Caring For Others, Inc. and are collecting items on their behalf, which they will sort, pack, and transport directly to Houston, Orlando, and surrounding areas impacted by the storms.

How can our members help?

By Giving

Please see the attached list of items that Caring For Others, Inc. is collecting and give as you are able.  All items must be brand new and un-opened.  You can bring donations to the Local 479 Office beginning Tuesday, September 5^th between 9AM-5PM.

By Volunteering

Caring For Others, Inc. will be accepting donated items at their warehouse, located at 3537 Browns Mill Rd., Atlanta, 30354 and is seeking volunteers to assist in the sorting and packing of donated items.  Volunteers are welcome to go directly to their location beginning Thursday, September 7^th, between 10AM-3PM.  They will need volunteers during those times every day through the weekend and into the following week.  Interested volunteers should ask for Ms. Shockley when they arrive.

If you are unable to donate items or volunteer your time, you can visit caring4others.org to learn how to donate monetarily to the efforts of the Caring For Others, Inc. organization.

How can productions help?

We would love for productions to get involved in these efforts as well.  Talk to your UPM about collecting items at your production office.  Challenge the company to match the donations brought in by the crew. UPMs can have items they collect/donate delivered directly to Caring For Others, Inc.’s warehouse, or contact Local 479 for help getting their donations picked up and delivered to the drop-off location.
