Education Department Adds Administrative Assistant

This month Local 479’s Education department welcomed on board its first dedicated administrative assistant, Felicia Smith. The continuing growth of the local’s education and training programs and an upcoming expansion of the education facilities prompted this staff addition, and Felicia’s strong administrative experience will allow her to serve in an effective support role to Director Kevin Amick.

“Felicia is coming in to handle the day to day administrative tasks so that I can spend more time developing our curriculum and shaping the future of our education program. She has a professional, service-driven personality – Ed and I are happy to have her on our team,” explained Director Amick.

Before joining Local 479’s staff Felicia worked as an administrative assistant at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, and prior to that she was a member of the United Automobile Workers (UAW), working for 7 years at the Ford plant in Hapeville until that automaker bought out the workers and shuttered the plant.

Members attending classes, seminars and panels at the local will soon get to know Felicia for themselves – Welcome, Felicia!
