BLS Provider Refresher Course:
This course is open to Local 479 medics who need to renew their BLS certification as required by the GA DPH to maintain professional licensure.
BLS teaches skills using AHA's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback, and guide students acquisition of skills.
After successfully completing the BLS Renewal Course, students should be able to: describe the importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival describe all the steps of the Chain of Survival apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival recognize the signs of someone needing CPR perform high-quality CPR for an adult describe the importance of early use of an AED demonstrate the appropriate use of an AED provide effective ventilation by using a barrier device perform high-quality CPR for a child perform high-quality CPR for an infant describe the importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation perform as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR describe the technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for an adult or child describe the technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for an infant. This course is open to all Local 479 Medics
This 5-hour class is designed to provide members, who are working as medics, with a broad foundation of knowledge, tips, and techniques to enhance their job performance and ability to be hired. Attendees will review general set etiquette, as well as, specific responsibilities and behavior expected of medics, including a discussion of the unique conditions that on production and off production medics will be expected to know.
The business of the medic will be explored from negotiating with UPMs to scheduling additional safety personnel.
Focus will be given to the variety of paperwork that medics will encounter on a normal basis, including:Call Sheet, One Liners Injury Reports & Claims, and Workers Comp.
A portion of the class will be spent exploring the typical responsibilities and conventional production practices for on/off-set medics, from billing of invoices to the type of medical aid that can be legally rendered based on your license, Medical Direction and Personal Liability Insurance.

This American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED course was the first in the nation to combine hands-on AED instruction with CPR training. The course teaches the basic techniques of adult, child, and infant CPR and use of an AED.
Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking in the responsive victim. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of three major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, and choking.

DMX Control for the Lighting Programmer & SetLighting Technician teaches students to understand how to use DMX for Television Shows and Feature Films. The class breaks the subject into a manageable progression of skills, starting with the basics of running DMX Cables, tools required for troubleshooting, understanding the basic concepts of how DMX works, and using those skills so that Set Lighting Technician, Programmer and CLT Can work together to implement the complex tools of control and more effectively light the set.

Camera Movement-
(Intermediate) Qualifications to attend- 1 year working resume
Class length- 2- 6 hour days
This two day course will cover the broad strokes of camera movement. Attendees will be instructed in the practical use of all the toys that move the camera. This will include tools such as Chapman/Fisher dolly’s, western/doorway dolly’s, cranes/jib arms, Dana dolly’s and camera sliders. Members attending will learn, and be expected to participate in, the building, set up and wrap of each piece of equipment.

Heartsaver CPR with Beth Cuvar

This American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED course was the first in the nation to combine hands-on AED instruction with CPR training. The course teaches the basic techniques of adult, child, and infant CPR and use of an AED.
Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking in the responsive victim. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of three major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, and choking.
