A Homerun for Georgia’s Fallen Firefighters Foundation

2016-kickball-feature-001

On September 11th Local 479’s Young Workers Committee hosted its second annual Atlanta Film Community Kickball Tournament in Central Park, raising more than $26,000 for the Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation (gafallenfirefighters.org). Sixteen teams from across Atlanta’s production community faced off on six fields in an epic battle for first place. Team MacGyver took the top spot, earning their name on the YWC’s loving cup trophy, permanently displayed in the office for all to see.

More than $26,000 raised for the Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation!

The YWC selected this charity in commemoration of the sacrifice of our nation’s firefighters on the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. The amount raised by the YWC and its partnering organizations and sponsors is especially significant, as the GFFF’s entire annual budget comes from donations, and since they typically only raise about $15,000 annually our contribution more than doubled their annual donations, providing them with the ability to provide enhanced support to the men and women they serve in Georgia and its neighboring states.
