Heartsaver CPR with Sarah Mullis

This American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR and AED course was the first in the nation to combine hands-on AED instruction with CPR training. The course teaches the basic techniques of adult, child, and infant CPR and use of an AED.
Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking in the responsive victim. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of three major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, and choking.

We will be hosting ARRI for a “Hands-on” learning event on June 10th at 9:00AM. Come join the folks at ARRI to learn about best practices for HMI systems, recent updates on the SkyPanel and Orbiter, plus we will finally be answering the age-old question, “Which side of this 18K lamp/bulb/globe should be facing up?” that, and much more.
The morning will consist of presentations on the topics above, and after lunch, we will have some time to chat, ask questions, and play around with equipment that you might not have gotten a chance to use yet on set. MEDIC SETIQUETTE
This course is open to all Local 479 Medics
This 5-hour class is designed to provide members, who are working as medics, with a broad foundation of knowledge, tips, and techniques to enhance their job performance and ability to be hired. Attendees will review general set etiquette, as well as, specific responsibilities and behavior expected of medics, including a discussion of the unique conditions that on production and off production medics will be expected to know.
The business of the medic will be explored from negotiating with UPMs to scheduling additional safety personnel.
Focus will be given to the variety of paperwork that medics will encounter on a normal basis, including:Call Sheet, One Liners Injury Reports & Claims, and Workers Comp.
A portion of the class will be spent exploring the typical responsibilities and conventional production practices for on/off-set medics, from billing of invoices to the type of medical aid that can be legally rendered based on your license, Medical Direction and Personal Liability Insurance.

WORKING IN THE ART DEPARTMENT:
This course will provide an in-depth look into the roles and responsibilities of the Art Department in the production of film, television, and commercials. The workshop is designed for prospective production designers, set decorators, art directors, and other Art Department crew. However, producers, directors, and directors of photography will all benefit by gaining a valuable understanding of the many details involved in creating the visual backdrop of a production. Participants will have the opportunity to do a script breakdown (specific to the Art Department), learn about budgeting and tracking expenses, scheduling, and the division of labor. Using behind-the-scenes examples, students will see how a set can come together in a fantastic and successful way or fail completely. The goal for this workshop is to showcase Art Department work as an exciting and fulfilling career path. Participants will learn about the creativity, skill, and hard work involved in taking an environment that exists only in someone’s imagination and creating a physical set that supports the vision of the production.
There will only be 30 spots for this class. No walk-ins please.
