2019 Golf Tournament Raises $26,000 for Charity

This past Saturday 27 teams from across Atlanta’s production community faced off over 18 holes on a breezy May 4th afternoon at the Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City for our 9th Annual IATSE Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by IATSE Locals 479 and 600, and organized by Local 479’s Women’s Committee.
“We are proud to announce that this year’s golf tournament raised more than $26,000 for BeLoved Atlanta (belovedatlanta.org), a charity benefiting women who have survived trafficking, prostitution and addiction – thanks to all who sponsored and participated in this great event!”
Myra Foy, Chairwoman IATSE Local 479 Women’s Committee
Amelia Quinn, founder of BeLoved Atlanta, is appreciative to everyone who participated for helping advance her organization’s mission.
“BeLoved Atlanta believes in the importance of individualized care. Through the donations from the golf tournament, each resident will participate in drug and alcohol rehab, counseling, education and employment. It is amazing to watch this community rally around survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and invest in their future. We are blown away by your generosity! Thank you.”

Pinewood Team Takes Top Spot
Coming in at an impressive 15 under par, Team Pinewood Studios walked away with First Prize. In addition, players from other teams won prizes for the longest putt, longest drive, and coming in closest to the pin.
Special Guests
We were especially honored to host representatives from the International, including: 4th Int’l Vice President / Dept. Director, Motion Picture & TV Production, Michael F. Miller, 9th Int’l Vice President, Phil LoCicero, and Assistant Department Director, Motion Picture & Television Production, Dan Mahoney.
The Courses
Each team played on two of three 9-hole courses, front 9 and back 9, to complete an 18 hole round of golf. The three courses in the rotation were Homestead, Old Mill, and Graveyard.

List of Winners
1st Place Winners
Team Pinewood Studios walked away with the tournament this year. Each team member won a crystal golf ball clock and a $100 Gift Certificate courtesy of Gentry Akins, Sr., Director of Feld Entertainment.

Putting Contest Winner
Prior to the commencement of the tournament players competed in a putting contest on the practice green behind the pro shop. Scott Forte of Team IA 600 sank the longest putt, winning himself a portable rocking chair donated by Cabela’s.
Longest Drive Winners
Lowe’s donated two charcoal grills for this contest. Jimmy Herring of Team Grip House won for the longest drive on hole 6 of the Old Mill course, while Lee Bosma of Team Lightnin won for the longest drive on hole 3 of the Homestead course.
Closest Pin Winners
Buck knives were awarded to the winners of this contest, donated by The Army Navy Outdoor Center of Stockbridge. Kyle Bowen of Team Deacon won for closest to the pin on hole 5 of the Graveyard course, while Ian Bender of The Worm Burners team won for his accuracy on hole 3 of the Old Mill course.
Hole in One Prize
A great big THANKS to Chan Sherman of Union Auto, who provided a fantastic prize for our Hole in One contest: a new Chevy Malibu!

The 9th hole of the Homestead & Graveyard courses provided an opportunity for someone to take home a new car, although none of our players managed to achieve that feat in this year’s tournament.
