2018 IATSE Family Day at Six Flags a Great Success

Six Flags Family Day 2018

In September the membership of IATSE Local 479 returned to Atlanta’s roller coaster playground for our second IATSE Family Day at Six Flags.  The park opened an hour and a half before normal opening time to provide our member and their families with exclusive access to the park’s many amusement rides.

This year members of IATSE Local 600 joined in the festivities, which included a luncheon at the picnic pavilions near the Great American Scream Machine.

One of the most talked about rides this year was the Twisted Cyclone, an update to the rollercoaster previously known as the Georgia Cyclone.

Costumer Marsha Wilson (IATSE Local 479) wrote in to say:

“My family and I would like to thank you for Family Day at Six Flags this past Sunday, September 16. We had a BLAST and enjoyed fellowshipping with other IATSE members and families, as well as having access to the park exclusively for the first 2 hours, free parking, food & dj, & a priceless experience. I’ve attached a photo taken of my family and me (second from the left) at Six Flags.

Again, thank you for the event and foresight to host a family day for the members.”

Celebrating Our Members, Honoring Our Community

While events like IATSE Family Day at Six Flags provide our members and their families with a chance to stop and spend time with their families and fellow members in a fun setting, the Local is also an active member of our local community, hosting several annual fundraisers, like The Charity Golf Tournament and our Young Worker’s Committee’s Annual Charity Kickball Tournament.

The Local provides scholarships to children of its members on an annual basis as well, investing in the future of our members’ families.
