2015 Facility Updates
Most of the planned improvements to Local 479’s new facility have been completed (or are nearing completion) and as 2015 wraps up it’s a good time to look back at how much has been accomplished this past year.
New Video System – a new video system was added to the assembly hall this fall. The new system allows us to participate in remote video conferences, conduct presentations by beaming camera coverage to the televisions inside and outside the assembly hall. Local 600 has already used the system for their national meeting.
Media Center – the new media center is now fully functional, with wall-mounted monitors displaying up-to-date contact information for current productions, both television and feature.
Painted/Sealed – the Training Workshop has had its floor resurfaced with new paint and sealant.
Lighting Package – Ron Dahlquist, a 44 year member of IATSE Local 728, founder of Dadco Power & Lights, and President of FilmGear.com has generously provided a full, modern tungsten and HMI lighting package for use in our training classes. This training package also includes cabling, breakout boxes and lunch boxes.
“In 2015 Ron taught several electrical safety classes for our training program and we appreciate everything that he has done for us,” said Kevin Amick, Director of Education.
Member Fitness Center – the new member fitness center now has 24 hour card access, cards are available for purchase by members during normal business hours.
New Fence – a new screening fence was added around the dumpsters on the northeast corner of the building.
Paving at Entrance – a paved walkway was installed at the main southern entrance to the building by greensman Jerry West.
Video Security – a full-coverage 24 hour video monitoring and security system was installed this fall.
